We currently have 10 pupils who have been awarded full bursaries at Finton, but it is our aim to double that provision by 2027.
Finton House was founded on the principle of inclusivity. The Sally Walker Bursary Fund was created in memory of a much-loved Finton Headmistress, and funds free or assisted places for children who would otherwise not have access to a Finton education.
A bursary is transformational: a life-changing opportunity for someone with potential, giving them a platform to achieve in the long term and give back to society. The scheme is targeted at those who will benefit the most and includes funding for everything from clubs to music lessons to travel support.
A gift of £75 can pay for an after-school club for a bursary student for a whole term. A gift of £200 can cover the travel costs for a bursary student for a whole term. A gift of £500 can assist in providing a full set of uniform for a bursary student. A gift of £20,000 can fund a bursary place for a year.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for this exceptional start to my son's future. Your kindness and generosity have enriched both of our lives and enabled us to explore possibilities for him that otherwise felt inaccessible. Finton House will undoubtedly always be a part of who he is.”
“Thanks to the education he has received from you, I am confident that he will thrive. And hopefully one day he will be able to reciprocate by giving another child the chance to have the wonderfully rich education he has been fortunate to have with you.”
“I remember being taught empathy and kindness, how to persevere, and developing a love for learning and how to think differently. Thank you - a hundred times - to Finton House and its wonderful community, and especially the Sally Walker Bursary. Without such a gift, I would never have gained such teachings in my life.”
“The bursary is a great thing to be able to celebrate. It started us on a path that ensured that we wanted to do better.”
